The air handler is the indoor cabinet that houses your evaporator coil and blower and connects to the supply and return ductwork. In many Miami condos and apartments, it sits in a closet right next to living space. In houses, it may be in a garage, utility room or attic.

Over time, the inside of the cabinet collects dust, and the area around the filter rack and return plenum can get especially dirty. Air handler cleaning focuses on the cabinet itself. The components inside it have their own services: AC coil cleaning and blower wheel cleaning. All of them are included in a full HVAC cleaning.

    If the coil or blower needs attention, we’ll recommend those services.

    Close up & test

    Panels are reinstalled and the system is run to confirm operation.

    We had Mike as our mold buildup technician today, and he was informed and professional. We decided on Deep cleaning sanitation, and UV light therapy as a more permanent solution, and the fee was Great! . Happy with the work and would suggest it.Thnk you Purix Team

What is an air handler?

It’s the indoor part of a central AC system. The cabinet houses the evaporator coil and blower and connects to your ductwork.

Is air handler cleaning the same as HVAC cleaning?

Air handler cleaning is one part of HVAC cleaning. A full HVAC cleaning also includes the coil, blower wheel and drain pan.

Can you clean air handlers in condo closets?

Yes. Closet air handlers are very common in Miami condos, and we protect the surrounding area while we work.

Should I clean the ducts at the same time?

Often, yes. If the air handler is dirty, the return and supply ducts connected to it usually are too.
