Adding insulation where your attic needs it

In Miami, the attic is one of the hottest places in the house. On a summer afternoon it can be far hotter than outside, and that heat pushes down through the ceiling into your living space. Attic insulation slows that heat down, but many homes have far less than recommended, or insulation that has settled over the years.

Blown-in insulation is installed with a machine that blows loose-fill insulation through a hose into the attic. It spreads evenly between and over joists and fills gaps around wiring, pipes and framing that batts can miss. It can go on top of existing insulation that is dry and clean, or into an attic that has none.

How much attic insulation does a Miami home need?

ENERGY STAR recommends R-30 to R-49 for uninsulated attics in Miami’s climate zone. We measure what you have and recommend how much to add.

Can new insulation go on top of old insulation?

Yes, if the existing insulation is dry, clean and in reasonable shape. If it’s wet, moldy-smelling or contaminated by pests, it should be removed first.

What material do you use?

Blown-in insulation is typically loose-fill fiberglass or cellulose. We’ll recommend a material for your attic and list it in your quote.

How long does installation take?

Most homes take a few hours, depending on the attic size and the depth being added.

Will it lower my energy bill?

Adding insulation to an under-insulated attic often reduces how hard the AC has to work. Results depend on your home, your current insulation and how you use your AC, so we don’t promise a specific saving.
